[May 21, 2014] If you are a fan of music, last night was one of those that kept you glued to the television set. I’m not much of a TV watcher but I enjoyed the Academy of Country Music’s tribute to the troops. Adding to the night was the season finale of “The Voice” where they announced this year’s winner.
Watching these shows (both were on at the same time) with my wife was indeed a pleasure. I watched mostly the ACM1 show because of the military connection and love of country music. Yet, what most people don’t even think about is the behind-the-scenes complex and difficult work that it takes to make these shows so successful. Certainly it requires a high degree of professional competence and leadership.
Our troops were honored and I thank ACM for that respect. Toby Keith was surprised when he was given a “Spirit of the USO” honor by the USO’s CEO for Toby’s support of the U.S. military and for over 200 USO tours2.
My wife followed “The Voice” this season as she normally does and even got me to watch a show or two – very enjoyable. Oh, and the season winner on “The Voice” was Josh Kaufman3 of Team Usher. I know I enjoyed hearing him sing.
