Comments on the U.S. Supreme Court Decision

[July 1, 2023]  There was a time when the U.S. Supreme Court was not as controversial.  The Court’s decision this past Wednesday to end the use of race in college admissions was long overdue and they stirred an expected visceral response from leftists across the country.  Was it really so controversial?  No, and for all those who believe in the basic principles of our Constitution, the ruling sets right what the Court made wrong decades ago.

I believe the significance of the Supreme Court’s decision is largely overlooked.  The decision has not gotten the level of press courage it deserves, and what coverage it did get was negative.  How can it be that in a civilized society, that has achieved so much, so many people believe that everyone should be given an equal opportunity to succeed, would be wrong-headed?  Yet that is the case.

President Joe Biden claimed that the Court gutted the constitutional guarantee that “all men and women are created equal” and that the decision has reversed gains that “we fought a war over in 1860” to secure.  The Court’s decision is plain.  There should be no racial discrimination in higher education.  That would hardly seem controversial, but to President Biden, the Court is not just wrong, but he compared them to arguments made by race arguments of the Confederacy.

It is about time the Supreme Court corrected its pandering to political pressure in the past that allowed racial discrimination.  I will also note that, unfortunately, the Court left open the door to future racial discrimination in these words:

“The Court also ruled that colleges and universities may consider in admissions decisions “an applicant’s discussion of how race affected his or her life, be it through discrimination, inspiration, or otherwise.”

Federally-funded universities will run rings around this court decision using this statement.

Affirmative Action has been used since 1963 under the Johnson Administration, and since that time, we have made zero progress in bringing “equality” to the institution of education.  Affirmative Action failed and it failed miserably.  It is past time to bury it.

Like Gen. Satterfield has said, pick the the right dog/person. Pres. Trump picked the right Supreme Court justices. Biden’s pick was subpar and racist.

I agree, this is one of the most important SCOTUS decisions in decades. Finally removing racial discrimination from college admissions. Now to remove more of this systemic racism from our country. Note that the liberals are going crazy. Just loving it.

Today’s Supreme Court decision is a direct attack on Black people. No Black person will be able to succeed in a merit-based system which is exactly why affirmative-action based programs were needed. Today’s decision is a TRAVESTY!!!

This is what they are all thinking but won’t say it out loud. Bet there was a bit of backtracking on this.

I don’t like the weaselly words that will allow the universities to continue to racially discriminate. It won’t take them long to add this to their arsenal that does nothing but racially discriminate. It will only go by a different name for them and they will think they are upholders of a moral good. But they are actually part of evil destroying the basics of human existence, based on trust.

Yep! I love it when evil loses and Affirmative Action is a PROVEN FAILURE and goes against the basics of good human societies.

This is what America is about …. equal opportunity. If you think you don’t have equal opportunity, then go have your pity party elsewhere like Venezuela. Everyone is equally poor there because they adopted your marxist ideolgy.

Got that right Patriot Wife. We are patriots because being part of America is the only place on this Earth that gives you a chance to do what you want but also protects you but does not coddle you like so many want.

One of the most important, but very limited, decisions of the US Supreme Court in this century. But as Gen. Satterfield and others predicted, the Democrat Party went wild with rage. Funny how that works. Pushing every one to have to work for their place in society. How, how terrible freedom is to the Marxist Democrats.
