Leadership Comparison: Harris vs. Trump

By | November 3, 2024

[November 3, 2024]  Just as I did four years ago comparing the leading presidential candidates, this article summarizes the leadership of Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump. I will acknowledge the difficulties when dissecting the general categories of leadership. I break it down into 20 traits.

I used information from their political websites, speeches, strategies, stated priorities, policies, and past performances.  I do my best to remain as unbiased as I can. Any statement I make, I do so with confidence.

Upfront, I have a bias and admit it openly. I am ant-socialist, pro-police and law & order, and I believe in the U.S. Constitution. I also dislike pretenders, those who claim moral authority based on one’s political stance.

Here is my best shot at an unbiased leadership comparison.  But before you see my beautiful matrix, I want you to know that I’m dedicating this post to Peanut the Squirrel:

TRAIT: HARRIS TRUMP
1 Experienced Judgment Experienced at state level.  Questionable judgement based on changing positions. 50 years in business & 4 years as president.
2 Being Present & Visible Rarely conducts interviews, and then only with friendly journalists. Highly visible, conducts many interviews, willing to talk with a hostile press.
3 Clear Vision “America is a racist country.” “Make America Great Again.”
4 Drives a Positive Culture We are unburdened by the future. “I love the American people.”
5 Accountability Regularly denies past policies she was for & changes positions often, then says her values remain unchanged. Says US citizens will hold him accountable.
6 Decisiveness Slow to make a decision. Says she will create a commissions of experts to study the problem. Makes big decisions quickly.
7 Intellectual Competence Has yet to demonstrate she has the capacity to be flexible or strategic in decision making.  Poor debater. Smart intellectually and a good debater.
8 Inspirational Sees a dark future and prioritizes gender and race attributes. Wants to open society and enact policies that are best for all Americans.
9 Gets Results No one can name a significant accomplishment in her time as Vice President. Middle East peace, no more wars, tax reductions, growing economy.
10 Honesty & Integrity Caught in numerous lies about her family background and accomplishments. Unfaithful to his wife many years ago.
11 Adopts American Values Rejects select values like hard work, religion, staying out of trouble with the law, etc. Fully embraces American values and speaks about them often.
12 Dealing with Unknowns Deals with unknowns by bringing in the “experts.” Willing to make decisions without full information.
13 Humility Exaggerates. Says he is the best to be President and exaggerates.
14 Mental Toughness Folds under pressure and freezes up when asked difficult questions.  Avoids confrontations. Can be nasty when pressed but doesn’t avoid critical situations.
15 Has Big Ideas No. Yes
16 Zealous Commitment Committed to running for president. Highly committed.
17 Adaptable No Yes
18 Great Communicator No, too much time avoiding the press and other means of communication. Yes, esp. in his use of Twitter.  Criticism that he may communicate too much.
19 Builds Trust & Confidence Absolutely not.  Her focus is narrow, mostly to her base.  Accuses others of failure and unwilling to accept responsibility. Yes, but only in a narrow group of dedicated fans. Abrasiveness is a problem.
20 Spinoffs Media gives full support.

Let’s not get off track here by diverting to the political trickery. This article is an excellent breakdown of what constitutes the primary traits of a senior leader. If anyone wants to add more, then please do so. I really like how Gen. Satterfield breaks apart the keys to leadership and then gives examples from Trump and Harris. Tomorrow is the final day to vote, so go vote! Don’t let your laziness get in the way, and then whine about the results. Like Eddie Gilliam used to write here, “Be responsible.” I will vote for Donald Trump because he is the better leader by a large margin. That’s what Americans need, not an airhead who panders to identity groups.

Gen. Satterfield, this whole story is getting more weird. There is an OF porn connection too. The NY Post article touches on this a bit and the article is worth reading. But Twitter/X has a much better lay down and analysis of what happened. I can’t yet confirm who reported P’NUT however it’s what New York did to send in armed officers to grab P’NUT and FRED, take them away, and then, totally inexplicably kill them. Rabies! That’s the govt narrative. We haven’t seen the end of this. But also think this blowup is more about govt overreach and upside down priorities.

Hi Nick, I’m new to Mr. Satterfield’s website. Is this common? The breakdown of leader traits is very thorough, and the summary of Harris vs. Trump seems well done, seeing the work from a more neutral stance. I looked back on some earlier articles and they seem to have a very down-to-earth theme. Is this right? Anyway, I enjoyed reading these and I salute tge author.

Welcome, johnny be good. I’m sure you’ll enjoy and learn here in Gen. Satterfield’s leadership forum. Take your time and read the comments. Most are worth your time.

One positive thing is that the chooses are clear. Socialism, DEI, race-based employment, high taxes and high inflation versus a real republic where everyone willing to work gets rewarded. Let’s not be fooled by Harris’s gaslighting us. Be strong. Vote red all the way down the ticket.

While I like your take on Kamala who blames any failure on others (a trait of weakness), you are a bit harsh on Trump. He appeals to those way outside his “base.” Just look at people from around the world who support him. It is obvious. The world needs Trump. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Yeah, but our citizens can’t see past the propaganda Harris spits out. She’s delusional.

This is very true. But the real question – going beyond the election – is how did we get to the point where a DEI hire could get this far? Yeah, I know that hard-core Democrats would vote for a dead raccoon if it had a ‘D’ behind its name yet they seem to also border on a mental breakdown. I’ve been on X and YouTube and seen them going nuts and attacking anyone who questions their decision to vote for Kamala. It’s a religion for them. Sad that our voting system has devolved so far downward.

ANOTHER DUMB, WEAK TRUMP WOMAN … not!
If you haven’t already seen it, this is for your viewing pleasure. Trump’s National Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, absolutely lays waste to an ABC Democratic Party spokeswoman.

For what it is worth, I would say that Trump, more than most politicians, has associated himself with highly impressive women–Sara Huckabee Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard, Kayleigh McEnany, Riley Gaines, and, obviously, Karoline Leavitt, just to name a few off the top of my head.

🐿️ Beloved social media star Peanut the Squirrel is dead, his owner announced on Friday. Two days after Peanut, whose name is also spelled P’Nut or PNUT, was seized by officers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, his owner, Mark Longo, announced that the squirrel and Fred the raccoon were euthanized. New York sure has its priorities screwed up. If Peanut was an illegal alien, he would have been given $500, free rent, free Obama phone, free airline tickets anywhere in the US, and a chance to appear with Kamala Harris to help her struggling campaign. 🐿️

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation needs to be shutdown immediately and all their employees fired.

Sane Guy, you nailed it. But But But, the fed govt lost 325,000 illegal alien children but can track down a squirrel and euthanize it — ie, murder the poor thing, tells us alot about our govt.

Nothing like another thoughtful article by Gen. Satterfield. Yesterday he gave us a lovely letter to his granddaughter and today a comparison of key leader traits between Donald Trump (conservative Republican) and Kamala Harris (leftist Democrat). Note that Gen. S. Is not making a direct recommendation but it is obvious who he does prefer. He also tells us in his bias acknowledgments. Thank you, sir, for your frankness and honesty here. Nowhere have I seen this level of analysis or even an attempt. This is one of the reasons that I keep reading this website, one of the best online and that also has a leader forum for comments.

Thanks .. very helpful. I can use these arguments in debates over leadership traits. The trick is how they come together to make a complete senior leader.

Gen. Satterfield, thank you, extremely well done laying out these traits. I see that 4 years ago you first introduced them. 👍

Your 20 “traits” that represent dimensions of a senior leader are well thought out and appear fairly comprehensive. I like the way you’ve summarized Harris and Trump’s key traits for easy reading. There will be those who disagree with you, of course, but then they can put forward their own list. Or add or subtract those “traits.” I’m one who will vote Trump mostly because Harris is a radical leftist and will be bad for Americans and bad for the world. Bottom line? She is no leader. She fails on every dimension. She is the ultimate DEI candidate.

Yep, the DEI candidate. Her accomplishments? Just ask those voting for her. They won’t be able to name a single accomplishment. I’m not sure who is dumber, her or her voters.
