[September 11, 2015] After five years of work and planning, the Katy Texas Rotary Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9182 are dedicating and consecrating the Freedom Park Memorial Tower today in Houston Texas. The tower is “dedicated to the men and women that have served and will serve our country”1 and to remember the attacks on our country. It is my honor to draw attention to local leadership that has done something special to recognize our military on the 9-11 anniversary.
The project was a joint effort over these years “by volunteers, students, and sponsors, the Katy Rotary Club, the Katy Rotary Fund, Katy VFW Post 9182 and Fort Bend County, all working together to make it happen.”2 Many will turn out for this event. On the top of the monument is the Texas star … nicely done. I personally wish them well and will thank them for their service and personal friendship.
