Marco Polo Smigliani: Vietnam War Veteran

By | April 25, 2025

[April 25, 2025]  Tomorrow at 11:00 AM – Saturday, April 26th – we are holding a ceremony to honor a very special person, Marco Polo Smigliani. Marco is a close friend of mine, a friendship that has grown over the past years since I’ve lived in South Jersey.  An Italian immigrant, Vietnam War Veteran, family man, Christian, and great American Patriot, Marco is the kind of man you would want in your foxhole when things go wrong.

We will hold the ceremony at the Egg Harbor Township Veterans Memorial Park, 2153 Ocean Heights Avenue, EHT, NJ 08234.  There is a small chance of rain. If it rains, we’ll relocate to the EHT Community Center at 5045 English Creek Avenue and still start at 11:00 AM. Mark your calendar for this very special event.

We currently have the 49th Marine Aircraft Group conducting a flyover with a AH-64 Attack Helicopter and a UH-1 Huey Utility Helicopter. Very few folks have seen these aircraft up close. Now you get your chance. Representatives from the 49th will be present and can answer questions about these aircraft and pilots.

Do your best to attend. Below is a draft of the handout.

I can’t make it but I certainly would love to have been there. I see from the PDF file you linked to that the ceremony is also honoring 1/9 Marines. That is super cool. Nice layout on the program, with lots of details about Marco’s life as an Italian Immigrant and how much he loves his country of America. I only wish more people would love America like him.

Nothing like a military ceremony to help bring people together, especially honoring out Vietnam War veterans. 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡 Thank you, General Satterfield.
