Never Underestimate the Positive

By | January 26, 2021

[January 26, 2021]  I’m a positive kind of guy.  I seem to always see the glass as half full rather than half empty.  I take every person I meet with the attitude that they are good people who will not lie, cheat, or steal.  I always look for the upside to every event and learn from even dire circumstances.  My motto: never underestimate the positive.

Someone sent me the link.  The link was in an email from a long-time reader of this leadership blog with the suggestion I share it.

“People are awesome” is a website (see link here).  Their splash screen says, “People are Awesome: Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things.”  Wow, I like it.  There are over 50 million subscribers/likes.

I firmly believe that the reason I achieved success in the U.S. Army was having a positive attitude.  When others saw defeat, I saw a new way to meet my team’s mission.  When others quit, I gained new appreciation and confidence to do more, to achieve more.  I never quit.  I never will ever quit.

We find on the website:

“People Are Awesome is dedicated to those who thrive on pushing the boundaries of human endeavour and achieving the seemingly impossible.  We feature videos that celebrate human physical ability, ambition, and ingenuity, and we shine a spotlight on the world’s most talented video creators, giving them a platform to be seen.”1

What could be better than these men and women helping others show off their talents and creations?  When so much of the world is reeling in violence and hatred, this website gives a counter-story to the tragedies we witness daily.

I applaud the platform the creators of People Are Awesome have made available.  Keep them in mind.  Submit a video.  Work with them to show others what you do is amazing.  Show the world what you can do, how you can benefit humankind, and that being positive is a good that can be experienced.

Please take a few minutes and give it a go.  If you are like me, you will come away smiling.

Great website, thanks for pointing it out for us. First thing, go to the best of the year videos. Also, if you can, upload one of you or your family or friends doing something “awesome.” We all want to see it and give you a thumbs up. Like others have stated since the beginning of humankind, don’t forget the positive, it will do you well.

Right Jonnie the Bart. Without US Supreme Court Justice Roberts, the trial of Pres Trump in the Senate will lack the solemnity and dignity his presence would have provided. With a Democrat in charge, the proceeding will look like what it is — a vindictive partisan exercise (in futility, to boot).

Yes, let’s not forget the audio. I do believe they note that those who run the site will help include free (??? I think free) audio that makes the videos more appealing.

Correct, Gen. Satterfield. Having a positive outlook on life and with your job and family is one of the best ways to do well and be successful. Plus, it’s a lot better than being a hater who gets ulcers, has psychological breakdowns, and is being shamed at every turn. Seems like common sense to me but given what I see in American, apparently not.

American, unlike its European forbearers, is a positive place to be. I do see the march of those who hate and destroy. It’s the political left… look everywhere and you will see it. It is always the leftists who want to burn down cities, pull down statues, and loot stores. Gee, why is it always that way yet they say its the ‘deplorables’ who are the violence ones because we call for free speech and limited govt.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if there are more like this. I would also like to point out that there are millions of views and subscribers. This shows that the world is more likely to err on the side of being positive and uplifting than not.
