[November 14, 2024] Reporting on North Korean (DPRK) soldiers fighting alongside Russians in the Ukraine War has given us little factual information about their effectiveness on the battlefield. What few dispatches we have received led us to believe their soldiers are performing poorly.
Russia’s manpower shortage and need for more equipment and ammunition are driving Putin into the hands of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. This part of the formal mutual defense pact between Russia and N. Korea explicitly allows an exchange of military personnel, loans and purchases of equipment and ammunition, as well as tactical and strategic measures. The big question is whether these actions are helping Russia.
Reports indicate that somewhere between 5,000 and 50,000 N. Korean soldiers have landed in Russia and are being trained in the Russian style of modern warfare. Integrating the North Koreans into their ranks and slowly introducing them to combat is a common, successful way of using newly arriving troops.
“Today I can confirm that over 10,000 DPRK soldiers have been sent to eastern Russia, and most of them have moved to the far western Kursk Oblast, where they have begun engaging in combat operations with Russian forces,” — Vedant Patel, U.S. State Department spokesperson
To date, by all indications, N. Korean troops have only been engaged in defensive missions, which is easier to master. However, we do have second-hand information from the front lines in Russia that their N. Korean ally has been a disaster. Whether this information has been contaminated by Ukrainian propaganda is unknown.
We’ve had reports of N. Korean troops firing on Russian soldiers, overindulging in porn and Western movies, visiting prostitutes, and demanding foods that are rationed. There is also wide speculation that these troops may never be allowed to return to their homeland due to being “corrupted” by Western values.
While it remains too early to make a solid assessment of North Korean troops, we do know they are beautiful while marching in massive parades to impress their Generals and Kim Jong Un. But their fighting capabilities are not yet fully tested.
We also need to ask ourselves whether these troops will be a net benefit for Russia, now or later. If the numbers remain at 50,000 or below, there will be little impact, even in the best scenario. But what I don’t like is that these N. Korean soldiers will gain invaluable combat experience. Today, they have none.

CAN’T WAIT TO SEE A REAL BATTLE.
Eeeek, let’s wait and see the confirmation of battlefield casualty reports before we jump the gun. I suspect we will see some of these North Korean soldiers in the reporting soon. From the information I’ve heard, the Russians think the North Korean soldiers are idiots.
Ha Ha Ha, the nK troops being addicted to porn.
“ North Korean Troops Deserting Ukraine Frontline Days After Arrival: Report”
https://www.newsweek.com/north-korean-troops-deserting-ukraine-frontline-hours-after-arrival-report-1969726
Some 18 North Korean soldiers are believed to have deserted the Russian frontline, with Kremlin fighters reportedly searching for them. The troops were deployed in Russia’s Kursk and Bryansk oblasts, about four miles from the border with Ukraine, when they deserted, the public broadcasting company of Ukraine, Suspilne, reported. Intelligence officials cited by the broadcaster said the Russian military is searching for the North Korean soldiers, while commanders are trying to conceal the desertion from their higher-ups. It comes after reports that Moscow was planning to assemble a battalion of troops sent over by Kim Jong Un to help push Ukraine’s forces out of Kursk.
Typical NORK.
The Russian soldiers talk disdainfully about the incoming North Korean soldiers, codenamed the “K Battalion,” at one point referring to them as “the f**king Chinese.”
In the same extract, a serviceman describes another who has been tasked to “meet people.”
“And he’s like standing there with his eyes out, like… f**k,” the soldier says. “He came here and says what the f**k to do with them.”
The audio was intercepted from encrypted Russian transmission channels on the night of October 23, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence.
Thanks guys for the intell.
Very good article, Gen. Satterfield. We await the affect of the norks.
Correct, Jack of Spades. We will wait but evidence so far tells us that the Norks aren’t doin very well and there is little that will change these parade troops into a fighting combat force. Communists are more interested in appearance than reality b
Gen. Satterfield, yes, and while this information has been out for at least a week, very few are asking the important question of what is going on here? Are the nK troops just there for propaganda purposes or are they there as an actual fighting force? These questions will be answered over the coming months as we find out from Ukraine’s intelligence services. Of course, nK will say their soldiers were brave and very effective. Will reality intrude upon the Communist narrative?
Great comment. These questions will need to be answered soon.
Not soon enough. Ukraine’s combat forces are being slowly whittled down. Putin knows this. The only hope at this point to bring Russia to the negotiations table is Donald Trump. Joe Biden was weak and that is what gave Putin the green light to invade. The US Democrat Party is unwilling to see this and that is part of their problem. No see what is in front of their face. I’m looking forward to finding out more about the N. Korean soldiers, especially their history of pornography. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
