Reading List (Update)

By | March 2, 2014

[March 02, 2014]  There is no real excuse for not updating my favorites reading list, but I have been overseas for the past month and still have not returned home.  Nevertheless, despite travel and work getting in the way of reading, here is my current favorite read.

Margaret Thatcher: From Grantham to the Falklands.  Charles Moore

This authorized biography by Charles Moore is a recent book from 2013 that lays out the key dynamics of Lady Margaret Thatcher’s senior leadership characteristics.  Back in late September last year, I wrote a blog on her great leadership.  This book reinforces those comments but is vastly superior in both new and confirmed comment.  Moore is able to put together this biography with Thatcher’s history, politics, and the psychology of her times.  We have much to learn from her.  Lady Thatcher, for example, was an extremely hard worker – a strong work ethic and a strong desire to help those in need instilled by her father.  She noted that it is not enough to have dreams, ideas, and philosophies; one must have the determination through work to carry them out.  Margaret Thatcher was an iconic, inspiring political leader with her own style.  I do not usually read biographies, but this one was a stand out.
