[August 6, 2023] I’ll make a few comments about David Garrow’s recent book, Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama (2017), as pointed out by Scott Johnson in PowerLineBlog (link here). Garrow’s biography is the best-researched, most comprehensive study of past President Barack Obama and covers more than a thousand pages of text. What I find most interesting is Garrow’s comments on Obama’s presidency.
In a Tablet article titled The Obama Factor, David Samuels gives us his take on David Garrow’s book from a recent interview. In his biography, Garrow evaluates Obama’s book, Dreams of My Father and has a very different take than most of Obama’s biographers:
“Dreams from My Father, as Garrow shows throughout Rising Star, is as much a work of dreamy literary fiction as it is an attempt to document Obama’s early life.” – David Samuels
Tom Elliot gives us a summary of the Tablet article:
- Obama’s apparently Biden’s puppeteer
- Obama wrote a letter to a girlfriend “about how he repeatedly fantasizes about making love to men.”
- Obama lying about why his relationship ended w/ a white girlfriend
- His biographer says, “He’s not normal—as in not a normal politician or a normal human being.”
- “Barack is actually just as insecure as Trump … Barack doesn’t want to be close with people who are his equals. None of the people who are ostensibly his best friends are anywhere close to his equal.”
- “Barack once said to him that the only two things he wanted were a valet and an airplane.”
- “So why should Obama, the ultimate winner, carry on the charade that he’s part of a community, whatever that means, with these people [from Ivy League schools]? He’s happy to go on NPR and talk about meaning or Marilynne Robinson novels or whatever, to make the wine moms identify with him, so he can put one over on them. Just don’t ask him to visit the hospital when you get cancer, because he’ll be hanging out on someone’s yacht, with the other winners.”
I highly recommend reading both the Tablet interview article and Garrow’s biography. There is a lot to gain from it.

Yes, Maximillian, you are spot on with your assessment. I do also believe the Obama was part of Joe Biden’s corruption scheme and millions of dollars from China, Russia, Ukraine, and other corrupt countries went directly to him. Obama needs to be investigated for it.

This relatively new bio of Barack Obama tells us a lot about a highly narcissistic president who did not do many good things for AMerica because he was more interested in making himself rich and proving he is superior to everyone else. Just like Joe Biden except that Biden is an idiot.

Got that right, Peigin. That is one of the reasons that I keep returning to this personal blog of Gen. Satterfield. He is always bringing up things that make me think. And if I don’t think, then I fall apart. That is why so many of the followers of the Marxist tradition, that Obama – both Obama’s – love so much the Obama narrative that racism is okay as long as it’s against white people.

Will Michelle Obama run for president? Inquiring minds would like to know. Like her “husband” Obama, she is a full-blown narcissist as well. Just like Hillary Clinton, except she dresses better. Just a side note, many called Michelle Obama the new Jackie O. That makes me want to vomit. Nothing could be further from the truth. Barack Obama is, without any doubt, a full blown narcissist. BTW, where did he get all his money after being president? Hmmmmm, was he running a scam like Joe Biden and the whole Biden crime family? Or was he shaking people down around the world to support him, “or else!” That is what we all want to know. Obama from neighborhood advocate to multi millionaire. Hmmmmm there needs to be an investigation into that.

Hey Bryan, hard to argue with that. The only issue I see is that most high level politicians are narcissists. But in the case of Obama it is glaring.
I don’t care if Obama is a narcissist, especially now that he is no longer president because he has to constantly find validation from others. Maybe one day that will stop and his whole being will implode and no one will notice. I’m not an Obama fan or his wife Michelle (I hate America) fan either.
