Senior Leader: Israel’s Prime Minister

By | March 31, 2015

[March 31, 2015] With violence continuing to escalate in the Middle East, a small number of world leaders have stood out among many. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu is one who has become a loud voice condemning the actions of terrorism in general and the brutality of Iran in particular. His speeches provide us with a view of what real senior leader is like.

He recently commented on the continued nuclear negotiations in Lausanne Switzerland between the United States and its allies, on one side, and Iran on the other. Netanyahu’s desire is peace and stability in the region because it directly affects his country; all his country, both Jews and Muslims alike.

“One cannot understand that when forces supported by Iran continue to conquer more ground in Yemen, in Lausanne they are closing their eyes to this aggression, … but we are not closing our eyes and we will continue to act against every threat in every generation, certainly in this generation.” – Benjamin Netanyahu1

Clarity is one of the more important characteristics of a senior leader and Netanyahu is certainly an advocate of speaking one’s mind about important issues and doing so clearly. Netanyahu is also controversial. His analysis of Iran and its proxies, the U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations, and the threat of terrorists who have atomic weapons in the Middle East, has drawn criticism worldwide. While some see him as a warmonger; others view him as the savior of the Israeli people.

His comments have angered the United States President Obama. For example, Netanyahu told a delegation of U.S. Senators in Jerusalem that a proposed deal on curbing Iran’s nuclear program “paves Iran’s way to the bomb.”2 This is just one of many examples that Netanyahu makes himself hated but there is no doubt where he stands. Not unlike British Prime Minister Winston Churchill who was also hated but warned of Germany’s Nazi Party and Adolf Hitler prior to World War II, Netanyahu has also been disparaged for his blunt vision of a rogue country, an unstable Iran with a nuclear bomb.

Netanyahu is neither timid nor dishonest. He has been elected more times as Prime Minister than any other leader in Israel. He also has credibility, attracts people to him, and is a man of action. Listen to his speeches and you will see why. It is worthwhile that the world listen to this man.
