Sheila: Black on Black Disrespect

By | October 8, 2024

[October 8, 2024]  On occasion, I run across someone with the good sense and moral courage to stand up and tell the truth.  A middle-aged woman with a YouTube Channel titled What’s Up w/Sheila has kicked up a controversy by telling the world that black on black disrespect is out of control.

In Sheila’s uploaded video from a month ago, she expressed her dismay at the poor attitude of many blacks in her community.  She got feedback, mostly positive by folks saying they had the same experiences with blacks being disrespectful to other blacks.  Of course, some tried to put her down by denying anything of the sort.  Sadly, some said she was lying in particular about bad customer service by blacks.

Sheila begins by saying that she has never received bad customer service from Caucasians or Latinos.  The reason, she believes is that she lives in a small town near a major city and many of those who work there live in her small town.  Here is the crux of her observations.

“These people are a little more enlightened and so they don’t tolerate racism.  The quickest way to have your company go out of business is to have employees who talk down to anybody, especially a minority.  None of the business owners would ever allow a Caucasian employee to even look like they were racist to a minority.” – Sheila, What’s Up w/Sheila

She gives an explanation to this type of behavior on the part of blacks.  She says that most of those her age experienced segregation and prejudice.  “Unfortunately, a lot of people can’t ever get past that,” she said.  I think Sheila is on to something here.

On another video by the Hodge Twins, they show a black man coming out of a Popeyes restaurant.

“So for years, this Popeyes’s location in Orlando Florida  had all black employees for years.  You come here, knew the order was going to be f**** up, the food mediocre, lukewarm, the attitude at the little drive-through was going to be shitty.  You knew all this stuff when you came here so you had to come and you had to prepare yourself.  One day, I came in here all the blacks, my complexion people, were gone and it was replaced by all Spanish people … and now it’s some of the best f**** customer service I’ve ever received.” – more at this link on Hodge Twins

A recent article quotes some research that concludes that “people of color get so used to discrimination in stores they don’t always notice bad customer service.”  Clearly, that is the case of this gentleman talking about a Popeyes restaurant (link here).

What I see is that there is an unspoken rule that no one can criticize blacks for any reason.  This has permeated our culture to such an extent, that bad black behavior goes largely unchecked.  There is no regulatory mechanism to tell people they are doing something wrong.  And when some does say something, they are called a racist and shutdown.  And, that is a problem that will not be fixed soon.

Actually, this is a sad situation as we see a culture in decline.

Sir, a message for Sheila. “Hi Sheila, I’m from Alabama and have seen so much in my lifetime. I really enjoyed your talk and impressions. I am in my late 60s, Hispanic, and a 2 year college graduate. I’ve been blessed by three sons and one granddaughgter. Not so much racial issues in my life. I cleaned houses for anybody willing to pay me the reasonable rate I charge. This is to supplement my income. I’m proud to do this job and yet many see my job as lowly. My thinking is I do this to provide for my family and to better my kids education and futures. Thank you for sharing, you are a really great lady.

Great article on a topic that is so taboo that even writing about it will get you called a racist or violence committed against you for just telling the truth. It is clear from Sheila’s undertone that this has happened to her.

As a white Christian woman, I must say that I loved what Sheila said on her video and her channel is great. Praying for the black aborted babies that is so tragic and for ALL babies killed before they are born. I know that Gen. Satterfield would support me on this.

Jerome, smart man. If u can get a clerk that is white or hispanic, then u will get good service with a smile. And if you get a black woman, the it is the roll of the dice that u will get treated badly. Very few are good at giving respect but demand it from you. I had a neighbor who tried to hire good folks to clean her house. The black women would steal from her and do a piss poor job. She finally had to fire them all.

Sheila, thank you ma’am for your staying what needs saying. This is really true about black women, the men are less of a problem. The black women disrespect everyone but mostly disrespect each other. They are just mad at the world and see themselves as victims.

There will always be those who are offended by the trutth, so tell the truth like you see it. And, don’t make excuses for blacks who participate in this disrespect of other blacks, – and frankly disrespect to everyone else too. Never apologize for thinking you upset someone or hurt their feelings because you are calling out disrespectful behavior. I agree with Sheila 100%. We need to hold each other accountable for our actions and put up with this kind of behavior in ANYONE.

Yeah, I had this experience many times, mostly with young big black women at a retail store. They were rude, nasty and for zero reason. My mom and I were simply waiting to be checked out and these BBWs were standing around cracking jokes and not waiting on us. Big store in Chicago’s south side. We were just standing around waiting and I finally asked for service. These BBWs just stood there and glared at us like we were interrupting their day.

Anyone who has been around the block, so to speak, has seen this all too common phenomenon. Sheila is right and she is has the moral courage to say it out loud. Good for her.
