The Ukraine (another War Update)

By | April 9, 2024

[April 9, 2024]  Ten years ago, I wrote about the failure of the Obama Administration to protect the fledgling democratic movement in Ukraine from being destroyed by the Russian war machine.  I wrote, “Since the U.S. had no strategy, policy, or leadership on the Ukraine War, that … we are accepting [read violent] behavior” by Russia (see link).

“I predicted more violence and more deaths; all of which have come true.  Today [April 2014], we are getting additional reports that the country is sliding slowly into greater violence.  Russia will use this as a pretext to invade and to protect ethnic Russians.  It’s only a matter of time.

Fast forward ten years, and today we still have no strategy, policy, or leadership on Ukraine.  We’ve also not stated that Ukraine should win its war against Russia.  That is an utterly ignorant position for America to take.  To make matters worse, U.S. President Joe Biden has asked Ukraine not to target oil refineries in Russia because it increases the cost of gasoline in America.

And like ten years ago, the President and Secretary of State are not providing a clear understanding of where we are, what our strategy is, and how we will get there.  Like then, today, our political leaders want to be seen to do “something,” and I would politely suggest being “seen” doing something – anything – because that demonstrates to their voters that they are more intelligent and more powerful than they really are.  Psychologists call this narcissism.

Good leaders have a plan with clear, achievable goals.  America has none of those when it comes to Ukraine.  To make matters worse for a better world, we have no goals whatsoever in the Israeli War against Hamas.  In the case of Ukraine, the war has gone on for more than two years, more than enough time for even the slowest politician to figure something out.

Indeed, and the past repeats itself. When Obama and Biden were in charge, America fails. At least, let us not forget the terrible lessons from those days, lessons learned in blood, and let us never forget that the errant policies of our government is getting people killed unnecessarily. Keep up the great works here, Gen. S. We are standing with Ukraine against the evil Russian empire (er, mini-empire).

Gen. Satterfield, thanks for the update on the strategy of America on the Ukraine War, or should I say the lack of strategy. When there is no strategy, nothing will work out right for anyone except the enemy. I guess that is the point of no strategy here.

Pretty classic screwup when a leader fails during wartime. And that is what we are seeing in real time. 🤦‍♀️ /facepalm

Nailed it, Mikka. Also, good to see you back in Gen. Satterfield’s leadership forum. We’ve been having some really great comments lately. And, it was a surprise to get Gen. S’s update on Ukraine. Like others have noted, us Americans are kinda stupid when it comes to foreign events. We are insular and that is the fault of our failed educational system. That terrible education system is churning out a bunch of dumbass kids who think they know a lot and actually are just dummies walking around crying that they didn’t get their teddybear hug today. Anyway, good to see you back.

People in America don’t want to hear about the Ukraine War anymore because of the US election coming up. Shows how single-minded Americans can be. 👀👀👀👀👀👀

Gen. Satterfield, on another note but related, I have re-read your book “Our Longest Year in Iraq” and found some parallels between these wars. But the most important thing I learned is that no matter how brave and powerful your military is today, it can be overcome if your leadership is awful.

Bravo Gen. Satterfield. Both Obama and Biden are DISASTERS when it comes to foreign policy. They can’t even GUESS right. Pathetic little men.

Yes, Lady Hawk, and Joe Biden has learned from Barack Obama how to make himself rich off his position in politics. What a gig if you can get it. Corruption at its finest. But Biden has done better, he also made his family rich …. hmmmm. We have a name for that in America, something called corruption. But all legal, of course, move along, nothing to see here.
