Trust in the Medical Establishment Collapses

By | August 3, 2024

[August 3, 2024]   In a remarkable turnaround but not totally unexpected.  A recent survey concludes that the trust in physicians and hospitals collapsed during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The study’s results are shocking because trust in the medical establishment has fallen so quickly and to the lowest ever recorded.

Researchers from the Center for Quantitative Health surveyed 443,455 individuals and found that the average American citizen’s trust fell from 71.5 (in April 2020) to 40.1 (in January 2024).  Never has such a stunning result been found in any survey over such a short period.

Associated with the least amount of trust was being female, lower education, lower income, Black race, and living in rural areas.  Those publishing the results also noted a link to “increased politicization of public health policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.”  Go figure.

When respondents were asked why they had such low levels of trust, they cited “financial motives over patient care (35%), poor quality of care and negligence (27.5%), the influence of external entities and agendas (13.5%), and discrimination and bias (4.5%).

I would add that perhaps a much greater reason is we discovered that central public health authorities repeatedly lied to us.  It became increasingly clear that the primary contributor to the draconian COVID lockdowns was due to advice given by Dr. Anthony Fauci.  Fauci consistently failed to acknowledge that lockdowns did severe harm.  We took his advice and paid a heavy price, and we are still recovering today.

“Also, the Biden regime’s decision to mandate the experimental COVID products despite their unacceptably high adverse event rates, and scapegoat the unvaccinated, may well have contributed to the unfortunate “politicization of public health policies” during the pandemic.” – Debra Heine, American Greatness, August 1, 2024

Dr. Roy H. Perlis, MD, one of the researchers, added that the collapse of trust in the medical establishment “could have long-lasting implications for public health in the U.S.”  That is the understatement of the year.

There is no denying the fall of the medical establishment and I disagree that it is the ‘politicization’ of medicine. Just because a politician calls out the medical establishment for their failures does not mean it is automatically a divisive issue. We feel betrayed by hospitals and doctors because we were purposefully mislead and lied to about COVID.

“I’ve come to believe that trust is the fundamental, the most essential resource for people. Over the past few years, there have been several economic publications that focus on the economic utility of trust. In societies where the default economic presupposition between trading partners is trust, those societies tend to be rich. This richness is an outcome regardless of whether the nation has natural resources, a large population, or its education level. As long as trust is the basis of a human relationship, the world – past, present, and future – is simple and non-threatening. Trust is safety and security. Betrayal, on the other hand, forces us to rethink our very being. For Dante, betrayal (or as he called it, treachery) was the ninth and most profound, most sinful of sins. No wonder that, as children, we could not “see” the depths of Benedict Arnold with his betrayal of our nation. He, like many across time, has his reputation damned for all eternity.” – Gen. The medical establishment lied about the origins of COVID-19.When public health officials wonder about the loss of public trust in science, they should look in the mirror for the reason why. pic.twitter.com/Js0GkfAEhg— Vivek Ramaswamy (@VivekGRamaswamy) September 9, 2021

While the research on the loss of trust is surprising to many, it is not to me. I think those in the medical field are most surprised because they thought they had such a great reputation that nothing could ever impact it, but low and behold, look what happened. And, as long as Dr. Fauci is out there in the public, the people of America will continue to lose trust in it. I think if Dr. Fauci was prosecuted and jailed, that would help a lot.

Bryan. I don’t think there is much to prosecute Dr. F on when he is giving “advice”. His advice shows the failure of the “experts”. And now maybe some of the nutjobs in the Demorat Party will come around to their senses and stop believing experts are the end all of a problem. Ah, nope, that won’t happen. They put Kamala Harris up for President and that alone shows their stupidity.

Something Gen. Satterfield did not write and I do believe is important here is that the medical establishment (a conglomeration of med schools, med boards, hospitals, research centers, etc) fall from grace is a completely self-inflicted wound. What surprised me, and I think most of us, is how far and how fast our belief and trust in the medical establishment happened. I will add that the Woke Mind Virus has also infected the medical field and that too puts off potential patients. Who wants to go to a DEI doctor who knows little about medicine but is all about race, gender, and sex. Wow, fool me once ….

RED, you nailed it. DEI doctors is like having a commercial jetliner pilot chosen because of HER skin COLOR, not her ability to fly the plane. United Airlines is pushing DEI and that is why I never will fly on their airlines. Now, I guess I have to start rejecting any young doctor because most of them are there not because they are great doctors but because of …. well you know, the thing. Maybe Pres Joe Biden could get a DEI doctor for himself.

Neat Man, I’d almost forgotten about the DEI doctors part of the problem. Yep, get an older doctor, reject any new one.

Yep, A loss of trust is the result of abuse. People have ‘lost trust’ in the medical establishment and politics because those institutions have engaged in abuse. Truth, is the only pathway which can then be taken, because all other pathways require trust, and faith, even in the self.

Yeah, we know all about those DEI degrees bestowed by our woke institutions of higher learning. None of those degrees mean anything anymore. One of the biggest problems we have in America right now is a complete loss of trust of the public in our medical establishment, because they’re injecting people into the healthcare labor force that are simply NOT qualified to be there. Let me ask you this: Do you trust your doctors? I don’t, and I’m sure I’m not alone. Same thing with the legal profession and even civil engineering. Remember the FIU pedestrian bridge collapse? A multimillion-dollar contract awarded to a local contractor on the sole merit of being an ALL FEMALE engineering team. Of course, after the initial scandal Miami-Dade County settled all the wrongful deaths lawsuits quietly, blamed a subcontractor and buried the story. Our airlines are a disaster, our railways are even worse. Why is this happening now? What was different during the prior 100 years.
