Valentine’s Day is an Opportunity

By | February 14, 2016

[February 14, 2016]  I surprised my wife with a bouquet of pink carnation flowers for Valentine’s Day today and she’s been all smiles since.  But Valentine’s Day is more than just another holiday to purchase something; it means that all of us have an opportunity to do something good for someone we love.

“A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.” – Frank Morgan, American Character Actor

Each Valentine’s Day I’m surprised at how little thought people put into expressing how much they love others. Christianity is based on love, so is America and many other nations. No wonder Valentine’s Day is so popular. Frank Morgan, in his quote above, captures the sentiments of many when he notes that we are measured as good people by those who love us.

For the history buffs out there, Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century.1
