[July 7, 2020] A good leader is someone who can show another how to reach their potential. A great leader helps that person discover their potential for themselves. That is what Robert Woodson is all about. Controversial, tough-minded, creative, and patriot; these words describe the man, but who is he?
Former civil rights leader Bob Woodson is a U.S. Air Force veteran, native of Philadelphia, and advocate for pulling the poor out of poverty and for helping stop crime. Mr. Woodson is controversial because he is black and politically conservative. In today’s world, that is the same as being a “traitor to the black race.”
Recently, Mr. Woodson started the 1776 Initiative to combat the many distortions of American history, especially as it relates to slavery. Bob Woodson has argued that the recent narrative that blacks are shaped by the history of slavery and Jim Crow is a lethal mixture that perpetuates a culture of victimhood. His project is a challenge to the New York Times’ controversial 1619 Project, named for the year slaves arrived in Virginia.1
Bob Woodson shows us that our best leaders are inspirational. He says that people are inspired to achieve when they’re given victories that are possible, not always showering them with injuries to avoid. The rewriting of history to encourage victimhood is a guarantee of future failures among those who accept it. When a person refuses to take responsibility upon themselves is when that person’s character begins to die.
Mr. Woodson gives us a positive message. He says that poverty, crime, violence, wage disparity, and a host of problems are solvable. But the solution lies in encouraging pro-family policies2 and narratives, understanding our history, and by uplifting stories about our country. Bob Woodson has chosen to do this, not by vitriolic debate, but by providing scholarly essays and by personal inspiration speeches and appearances.
As a true leader, Bob Woodson offers forward-looking solutions to social problems, not excuses for failure. He is giving us models of success in reviving our communities and actionable goals that we should pursue. By providing a positive vision of the future and teaching the skills we need to get there, Mr. Woodson is a modern-day example of common-sense leadership.

It’s about time someone resisted the stupidity of the 1619 anti-American project. Bob Woodson is doing his best. More need to step up to the plate and reject moral cowardice.
Excellent article that exposes us to Robert Woodson. Great man who has taken a lot of crap from the news media and wannabe leaders across the nation. I support his efforts. Here is his website title 1776 https://1776unites.com/
Right !!!!!
Here is the led sentence.
“1776” is an assembly of independent voices who uphold our country’s authentic founding virtues and values and challenge those who assert America is forever defined by its past failures, such as slavery.
Love the site. Thank goodness for men like Mr. Woodson.
I enjoyed today’s article for several reasons. One, I hadn’t heard of Mr. Woodson before. Two, he has similar ideas to mine and I would like to explore it more (I found him on YouTube). Three, he is inspiring (like me to find out more about him). This is what real leadership is about.
Go for it Harry. I’ll be doing the same thing. I’m happy that there are people like Bob Woodson out there who actually care about people. Blacks in America need a leader who does not push victimhood. That is our downfall.
Our schools and our politicians are into victimhood. So is Hollywood and the crazies that live and work there. It is the hell that so many ancients wrote about.
A positive message is always preferable.
Bob Woodson has always been known to have a “positive attitude” and disposition. At one time that got people somewhere in the world but now it seems negative stuff gets people noticed. Just watch the terrible news commentators who trash America. A bunch of no-good commies (oh, I know that term is overused but they are neo-Marxists to their core).
I will admit my ignorance and note that I never heard of Mr. Robert Woodson before your article came out, Gen. Satterfield. This is another reason I read the articles…. they expose me to ideas that I don’t know and they broaden my horizon with ideas, people, and situations I otherwise would not have known about.
True enough but at least you are making the attempt.
Good article. Thank you General Satterfield.
Here’s a novel idea. Schools should start teaching civics. Wow, imagine that. I found an article suggesting it and, of course, it makes a lot of sense.
Schools can help stop our polarizing politics. We need new civics courses to unite us”

Bob Woodson is fighting back against the progressive narrative that America is inherently racists and is built upon the backs of blacks. Yes, it’s a stupid idea but millions believe it. Just recently Victor Davis Hanson wrote about this in the article “An Industry of Untruth” https://amgreatness.com/2020/07/05/an-industry-of-untruth/ Read about it here. Worth a few minutes of our time.
That is correct but I think most of the article is about the blunders made in the coronavirus pandemic. Mistakes are made and people suffered from the policies that followed. We should all pay close attention to what comes from the govt.
I’m a big fan also of Mr. Hanson. He makes a lot of good sense just like Bob Woodson.
This is why I read these forums. I get to see with my own eyes who are the best thinkers and leaders and then I go and find out more about them. By studying what they do and say it allows me to better do what I have to do in my family, community, and nation. That is what it takes to be a responsible person, and not someone looking for a handout from the government or some charity. I’m independent and like it. Dependence as an adult is a jail sentence.
Good man. I’ve seen him on the television and was impressed. He does have common sense, something that is seriously lacking in many of the media talking heads.
Very true, Ronny. Thanks. I don’t watch much TV but I do occasionally read the news and I still don’t see much of him there. That is not a surprised since it is the fake news media’s way to squelching his story.
